Background: Frail individuals experience an accelerated immunosenescence, and exercise has been identified as a therapy to promote a better inflammatory environment. Objective: To analyze the effects of 28-weeks of two different exercise protocols on the functional fitness and immune profiles of institutionalized pre-frail and frail women with mild cognitive impairment. Subjective well-being of elderly people in a social care home in the process of participation

Elderly people feel isolated from their former living place and they need social pedagogical support in the course of integration in a social care home. The integration of elderly people in a social environment is made more difficult because of the possible necessity of participation in the social life. The theoretical analysis has resulted in doing research on the theoretical content of the process of aging as well as in defining well-being and participation indicators. The research has been done in order to broaden the participation possibilities in a social care home, and as a result of the integration process to achieve the elderly people’s subjective well-being.

This study explores perceptions of risk commonly shared by children and young people living in care system in Romania. The original data, reported here, were gathered through direct interviews with children and young people living in public and private care. In undertaking the research, the authors wanted to challenge dominant, largely media created, representations of the care system in Romania. SummaryObjectives: We developed a novel system for in home functional capacities assessment in frail older adults by analyzing the Timed Up and Go movements. This system aims to follow the older people evolution, potentially allowing a forward detection of motor decompensation in order to trigger the implementation of rehabilitation. Laitoksissa ja palvelukodeissa asuvien vanhusten tutkimista kyselyjen ja haastattelujen avulla pidetään pulmallisena, koska asukkaat ovat informantteina tietyssä mielessä marginaalinen ihmisryhmä. Tässä yhteydessä marginaalinen tarkoittaa, että he ovat usein hyvin hauraita toimintakyvyltään. Heidän on esimerkiksi aistitoimintojen rajoitteiden ja sairauksien vuoksi hankala osallistua tutkimuksiin.
